The number of unemployment rates has continued to rise in recent years. This has in turn caused many dads to take on the role as “Mr. Mom.” Research is finding out though that these dads are bringing a lot more to the table then just an average stay at home mom.
There is an added sense of adventure with the dad taking on the everyday role in a child’s life. My dad worked from home and I did enjoy having him around all the time. I do think that there is some advantages with having the dad more involved in kids lives, but don’t think they can take the role of mom completely.
In an article I read it talks about how dads make it look so easy and how they can do a better job then women on raising children. This isn’t true; no matter how awesome of a dad you have there is times when you just want your mom. I think kids need both parents in their life as much as possible.

I agree with the viewpoint you presented. Each parents plays a vital role in the development of their children, but each are unique in their own way and need to work together. I can relate to the point you made about your dad working from home as mine did as well. Very insightful and well written!

I agree that both parents should be actively involved as much as possible because one parent cannot totally take over the role of the other parent.

I would disagree only partly about men not able to take the role of mom completely. Many man over the years have have had to “play mom” for their children because their mother wasn’t there. In the situations where the Mom isn’t there, dads can make great parents. Especially in gay couples where there is no technical mom, a man can still play the role of mom and do it pretty well. Anyways, great piece and keep up the good work!

I like how you took both sides of this topic. I agree, mothers are able to provide the overall sense of warmth and care that children go to their moms for. There is not doubt that fathers are able to do this as well and even bring in adventurous aspects to the day.
