The Concussion Crisis

As Americans we all love our sports, but injuries are starting to have people question if it worth it. Concussions were big headlines in the NFL this past season, but they are happening in not just football but in all sports. It doesn’t matter if you’re a girl playing high school sports or a Professional athlete. The effects can be life changing.

I don’t think people are going to stop playing sports because of concussions, but I do think people need to be informed of the risk involved. All coaches, players and medical staff need some knowledge of concussion before playing contact sports. Informing people about the risks and taking it seriously is what I think will help with the overall concussion crisis.

I agree with you. Both of my brothers have had a few concussions each, and that never made them want to keep playing. I’ve only experienced one myself, but it was only minor. I think injuries come with the territory when it comes to sports. If you don’t want to risk being hurt, you don’t have to participate, but there are many precautions that one can take in trying to prevent injuries. It’s almost impossible to control the opposing team or even your teammates sometimes though.
