What I have learned in Persuasive Writing

Persuasive Writing is a hard class and Media Style and Structure does not prepare you like I think it should.

This is not my first time taking Persuasive Writing. Though it is a challenging course I feel like I have learned a lot. The second time around made me feel better; I wasn’t so lost during all the assignments. My writing skills, AP Style and basic knowledge of the subject are slowly starting to improve. I can not begin to list all the things I learned, because I had so little knowledge of this subject before this course.

My writing skills still lack but through this course I am getting better. I learned how to write in ways I would outside the classroom. It is exciting to learn these things because I know it will help me in the future. The three projects that you do during this class are difficult, because you have never done anything like it before. It feels like you are just thrown in the deep end and have to learn how to swim. Each project is a learning experience because you feel so lost. One thing about being so lost though it that you have so much you get to learn during this course.

AP Style is not the main thing taught during this course, but it is a good refresher and I learned how to use it better. It is amazing to me how quickly I forgot my AP Style because I wasn’t using it everyday.

I think all the topics covered in this class are important and beneficial for the future. I am not sure that this class should be called Persuasive Writing though because there is a lot more to it. The videos, scripts and press releases are more then just writing. I have enjoyed getting to learn things that can be useful in all areas of media.
