We have been studying some great things her at KI the last two weeks. We studied the books of Daniel and Nehemiah. Not books that you spend much time studying in your Sunday school days. They have so much stuff in them and its just amazing to learn.
This past week we spent a lot of time talking about leadership and what qualities make a good leader. The book of Nehemiah names several of these throughout its 13 chapters. The book of Nehemiah is written by Ezra, who wrote it from Nehemiah’s personal journals about the rebuilding of the walls in Jerusalem. I thought I would share some of the leadership qualities that Nehemiah displayed through out this book and how we should try to develop these qualities in order to become a great leader.

1) Leaders follow God’s plan
2)Leaders are not controlled by their emotions or let their personal life dictate their role at work they wait for perfect timing
3)Leaders share vision and show that it’s well thought out and easy to follow.
4)Leaders are good delegators of the task that needs to be accomplished.
5) A good leader is a servant, and leads by example.
6) A good leader holds people accountable
7)Leaders acknowledges God sovereignty
8) Good leaders have a full heart for God, and realize the importance of how people see God in them
These are just a few of the many leadership qualities you can find out about in the book of Nehemiah. He showed great leadership and was able to lead the people to rebuild the walls in 52 days all with God’s help.
Some things I can take away from this study is that I need to work on developing these qualities in my life to become the best leader that I can be and to give God the glory in all things.
I would encourage people to study the book of Nehemiah if you get the chance and become a great Godly leader.
